Description
Srixon Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV are premium golf balls made by Srixon, targeted mostly at skilled players (low to mid handicappers), especially those who want tour-level performance. Both models are high-end, but they have important differences.
| Feature | Z-STAR | Z-STAR XV |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | 3-piece ball | 4-piece ball |
| Compression | Slightly lower (soft feel) | Higher (firmer feel) |
| Spin | Very high greenside spin | High greenside spin (slightly less than Z-STAR) |
| Launch | Mid to high launch | Mid launch |
| Distance | Great, but focused on control | Slightly longer (stronger flight) |
| Feel | Softer | Firmer |
| Player Type | Players prioritizing spin and feel (short game control) | Players wanting extra distance without losing too much control |
In simpler terms:
Z-STAR = more feel, more spin, better for those who love finesse shots around the green.
Z-STAR XV = a bit longer off the tee, slightly firmer, still great around greens but prioritizes power.
Both balls use advanced tech like:
SpinSkin coating to increase friction for more short-game spin.
FastLayer core (soft center, firmer edges) for better energy transfer.
338 Speed Dimple Pattern for strong flight even in windy conditions.
Typical choices:
If you like a softer, “buttery” feel when chipping or putting → Z-STAR.
If you swing driver faster (say 105+ mph) and want more carry and lower spin off the driver → Z-STAR XV.
